Workshop "Women's effective role in promoting human and community security"

On April 9, 2024, the CSO Institute for Democracy and Development carried out a workshop with the generic title "Women's effective role in promoting human and community security".

Această activitate este realizată în cadrul proiectului „Enhance Women’s Inclusion in peace Processes and Sustainable Responsible in Humanitarian Aid” (Sporirea coeziunii femeilor în procesele de pace și răspunsul durabil în ajutorul umanitar), cu suportul UN Women, și sprijinil financiar al Fondului Femeilor pentru Pace și Asistență Umanitară (WPHF/ Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund).

Workshop was opened by Cristina Lesnic, co-founder of AO I4DD, State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Jana Costachi, UN Women Deputy Country Representative, Svetlana Andrieș and the Political Affairs Secretary of the Swedish Embassy in the Republic of Moldova, Pernilla Nordvall.

The event hosted over 50 participants from national authorities, international organizations, development partners, representatives of local public administration, experts, academics and refugees from different districts of the Republic of Moldova.

This activity allowed the participants to discuss current topics related to human and community security, access to psychological services to overcome trauma, how to prevent and combat false information and propaganda, the resilience of communities in the peace-building process, the role of the Women, Peace and Security Agenda in the Republic of Moldova, as well as the contributions of regional and international organizations in prevention, protection, rehabilitation and participation. Likewise, on the discussion agenda, the three women's associations within the Police, the National Army and the General Prosecutor's Office addressed the role and the steps taken to promote the feeling of security and the empowerment of women to approach peace from the perspective of women's involvement.

This workshop highlighted the voice of women from the communities of people displaced from Ukraine in the Republic of Moldova, including the participation as trainers of representatives of DCAF Chisinau, GNWP, the Women's Police Association, the Women's Association of the Prosecutors, , the Women's Army Association, mayors and district councillors, journalists and psychologists, experts in the field of foreign and security policy, conflict and gender.

Multiple lessons learned and experiences, reflections on the mechanism of temporary humanitarian protection, art therapy activities, the mode of social cohesion and communication, increasing resilience at the local level, developing communities through the integration of the gender dimension and solidarity were among the ideas and needs collected within this workshop. The dialogue space provided in this training workshop offered networking and the identification of new ideas, opportunities and options.
