Beyond Patterns and Perceptions: Transforming the Customs Service through Institutional Reform and the Women, Peace and Security Agenda

Chișinău, 5 June 2026 More than 25 senior managers of the Customs Service, women and men in leadership positions, participated today in a training session dedicated to institutional transformation through the lens of modern leadership and the principles of the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Agenda. Femeile, Pacea și Securitatea (FPS).
Throughout the workshop, participants explored how leadership can accelerate positive change within the Customs Service, discussing the roles and responsibilities associated with gender responsive leadership. The session included practical exercises and discussions focused on identifying and addressing perceptions, stereotypes, and biases that may influence the organizational environment.
A particular emphasis was placed on leading by examplehighlighted as an essential quality for leaders committed to promoting integrity, equity, and professionalism within the institution. Participants examined real life scenarios, reflected on their own practices, and identified concrete ways to integrate a gender perspective into management processes and decision making.
This event is part of the ongoing efforts to strengthen the institutional capacities of the Customs Service and to promote an inclusive, equitable, and results oriented working environment.
The activity is carried out within the cooperation partnership between I4DD and the Customs Service, signed in 2024.
This event was organized by I4DD, in partnership with the Customs Service and UN Women, with the support of projects implemented under the auspices of Sweden, Denmark, and DCAF.
