Students of the “Ștefan cel Mare” Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Participated in a Peer Learning Guided Visit at the Institute for Democracy and Development (I4DD)

On 30 April 2026, the first group of 17 second‑year students from the “Ștefan cel Mare” Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs 10 young women and 7 young menaccompanied by a faculty member participated in a Peer Learning „Peer Learning„ (Învățare între egali) organized at the headquarters of the Institute for Democracy and Development (I4DD), focused on strengthening democracy, security, and peace.
The activity aimed to facilitate dialogue between future law enforcement professionals and representatives of civil societyas well as to promote a deeper understanding of the role of cross‑sector cooperation in consolidating the rule of lawdemocratic governance and human security..
During the visit, participants discussed:
- The importance of cooperation between law enforcement authorities and civil society in risk prevention, building public trust, and developing resilient institutions.
- The implementation of the Women, Peace and Securitywith emphasis on women’s participation in decision‑making, conflict prevention, and sustainable peacebuilding.
- Stereotypes, biases, and barriers that can undermine social cohesion, inclusion, and the effectiveness of cooperation between institutions and communities.
The students had the opportunity to interact directly with the organization’s experts and to exchange views with the DCAF Office in Chișinău, ask questions, and examine practical examples of collaboration between the public sector and civil society. The discussions highlighted the need for an approach based on mutual respect, transparencyand openness, as well as the essential role of young professionals in promoting a modern, citizen‑oriented institutional culture.
This activity is part of the Academy’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the professional training and competencies students, preparing them for careers in public service grounded in democratic values and community responsibility, while also familiarizing them with the Women, Peace and Security Agenda and its objectives.
